Public transport
From the airport, we can easily reach the city by metro (Aeroporto Station – Red Line), taking about 20 minutes to reach the city centre (30 minutes to the conference venue – red line). To have access to the metro, passengers must acquire a Viva Viagem card (0,50€), which is valid for one year and can be charged for use at the metro, in the bus and tram networks (Carris) and in the train network (CP). A single Metro/Carris ticket costs 1,80€, which can be used for an unlimited number of travels for up to one hour. There are also daily tickets for Metro/Carris (6,80€), and Metro/Carris/CP (10,80€). Lisbon also has several taxi and ride-sharing services that can easily be accessed throughout the city or via the major international apps.
Most of the Metro stations are prepared for passengers with reduced mobility, offering elevators and ramps for accessibility purposes. Additionally, 76% of the bus and tram fleet of Carris is equipped with full accessibility solutions for reduced mobility passengers. The train network, operated by CP, offers on request a service for special needs customers for boarding and deboarding the trains.
Lisbon is a bicycle-friendly city offering an expanding bike infrastructure with more than 60 km bike lanes. The city has a public bicycle network, with a station just outside the conference venue, which is connected to the main areas of the city. Shared bicycle and scooter services are also available throughout the city.
How to get to NOVA FCSH from Humberto Delgado Airport
NOVA FCSH campus is located in Avenida de Berna 26C (Lisbon, Portugal). It has four buildings, with lecture rooms, auditoriums, work spaces, a library, a canteen, a big outside space, among other amenities.
Since NOVA FCSH is situated in the city centre, it is well served by public transportation. Metro and train stations are within a 5 minute walk distance. There is a bus station right in front of the main entrance.
To get to NOVA FCSH from Humberto Delgado Airport you can take the metro. Red line takes you from the Airport to São Sebastião station, which is a 10 minutes walk from NOVA FCSH. The trip takes about 37 minutes. There is a metro every 7 minutes.
You can also choose to pick a bus from Carris Metropolitana. You will have to take bus number 744 or bus number 783 in Campo Pequeno, a 5 minute walk from NOVA FCSH. The trip takes about 30 minutes. There is a bus every 15 minutes.
