Museu dos Coches – National Coach Museum

This is a very rich and unusual museum. It has one of the finest collections of historical carriages in the world and is one of the most visited Lisbon museums. The Coach Museum was created in 1905 by Queen D. Amélia to house an extensive collection of carriages belonging to the Portuguese royal family and nobility, from the late 16th through the 19th centuries.

Centro de Arte Moderna, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian – Modern Art Centre, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

The beautiful Modern Art Center new building was reimagined by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, that collaborated with landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic, to perfectly integrate architecture and nature.  CAM is considered an open house, a place where you return often to enjoy a thought-provoking Live Arts program and to experience art.

MNAC: Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea do Chiado – National Museum of Contemporary Art of Chiado

The National Museum of Contemporary Art of Chiado, with its mission defined in its creation in 1911 (with funds from national and foreign works of art from 1850), with assumptions regarding the study of collections and its extension to the contemporary (always articulated with a coherent and distinctive programmatic line).

Museu do Oriente, Fundação Oriente – Oriente Museum, Oriente Foundation

Opened in 2008 in a unique building on Lisbon’s riverside front, Oriente Museum, emerges as a multicultural museum devoted to preserving, in all its aspects, the material and intangible heritage of several Asian countries through the testimonies of its two collections: Portuguese Presence in Asia and Kwok On.
